Design a Zentangle Spiderweb

Using this website as the inspiration: https://artfulparent.com/easy-zentangle-for-kids-and-adults/, students were given special pens and paper to create their own version of this zentangle. All grade levels found it calming and a great way to spend a lunch period.

Which Literary Villain's Team Would you Join?

Six literary villains were selected to head each team including: Count Olaf from the Series of Unfortunate Events,  Cruella de Vil from 101 Dalmations, Darth Vader from the Star Wars universe, The Joker from Batman comics, President Snow from The Hunger Games trilogy, and Mrs. Umbridge from the Harry Potter series. Students chose which team they wanted to be on Can you figure out who had the fewest number of team members? That's right, Mrs. Umbridge was considered just too mean. No one wanted to be aligned with her.

Visit from the Jefferson Parish Library
Librarian, Natalie Juneau

We invited Natalie Juneau from the Jefferson Parish Public Library to visit to book talk what is new at the public library. She shared some very exciting books that many wanted to read.

Literary Guessing Game:

Students have been playing this game in some form for many years. Since it is only played for a week in October it always seems fresh even for students who have been at Taylor for years. The small prize for winners has always been some form of candy.

Guess the Number of Scary Skittles in the Jar

A jar full of Skittles was set out for the week. Hundreds of entries were made. The winner said that she just came up with the number 1357 out of the blue. She came closest to the actual amount of 1372.

Now Showing in your Library:

Watching one of the original Twilight Zone episodes from the the 1960s is a tradition during the October library celebration.  This year the students watched Rod Serling's favorite episode, "Time Enough to Last." The ending irony was not lost on any of our students.
