Picture Yourself in an Unknown World

It is always fun to take pictures and manipulate them into something other worldly or unknown. This year for TRW, the students used the iPod Touch devices to snap a picture. Then we uploaded these pics to the computers where the students visited the photo editing website, 131.lunapic.com, to create some unusual looking pictures. Many of the students tried to hide their appearance with their edits others wanted to enhance their look with some cool colors.

Seek the Unknown Guessing Game

Every year we do some version of this guessing game for TRW. The members of Bookmarked come up with questions about movies, books, and stories that fit the theme of TRW. Every day students can visit the library to play. All winners receive a candy. Students can play only once a day, but they can do it every day. Usually, the week after TRW, students are extremely disappointed when they visit the library and find out that the game is over until next year.

Guess the Number of Dum Dums in the Jar that are not Mystery Flavor

For the candy guessing game, we shook things up a bit this year. Mystery flavored Dum Dums were placed on the bottom of the jar. Then the jar was filled with Dum Dums to the very top. The winner had to figure out the number of candies in the jar that were not mystery flavored. The closest guess that did not go over the number would be the winner. Laura Smith in 8th grade hit the nail on the head when she guessed 223. She won a Dum Dums t-shirt as the grand prize.

"The Mind and the Matter", an episode of Twilight Zone, was showing for Movie Day

Name the Unknown Photos Game

Bookmarked came up with this game. During one of our regularly scheduled meetings, the members fanned out all over school to take close up pictures. Paris, who is the president of Bookmarked, put the photos into a Powerpoint presentation. Students won a prize if they could guess the object in the picture. Below are some of our favorites. Can you guess what they are?
