Teen Read Week 2011

We used a Tweet Chat with author Tiffany Trent as our kick-off for TRW:

Here is a part of the conversation between the teens and Tiffany Trent. We used the hashtag #TRW11chat so others could follow along.

The president of Boomarked took control of the computer and typed in the questions for the students. Here are a few of the students who participated in the tweet chat.

The Games and Contests are always a big hit: 

There were only 739 Sour Patch Kids in the jar. The five students who came closest to that number won an author signed book.

Even Ms. Kahn took a turn to play the game: The picture is the clue, do you know the answer. Students could play once daily to win a prize through out the week.

In this game the students had to answer a question about a character or title of a book or a movie. There was a picture as a clue for each question.

Members of Bookmarked helped create the questions and answers for this game.

The students used Dumpr.net to picture themselves somewhere out of the ordinary:

Learning to use Dumpr was a piece of cake.

It took two days, but everyone who wanted to make a picture got a chance to make one.

Imagine if you were an egg.

Green, that is a becoming color on these two.

This looks like a real pencil drawing, but it started as a photograph.

One of the students put a drawing that she did into dumpr rather than a photograph. Look how the lines from the notebook paper added interest to the picture.

Where do you picture yourself in 20 years? .....as a nurse in California .....as a cartoonist in New Orleans .....as a photographer living everywhere .....as an artist in Japan .....as an engineer in a small town .....as an animator in Disney World .....as a creative writer in Prague .....as a dolphin trainer in New Orleans as you can see the students have many ambitions and will live all over the world
